The Hot Room

The heat is intentional. These guidelines exist to protect the integrity of the practice, ensure safety, and maintain a respectful shared experience for everyone in the room.

1. Arrive on Time

  • Doors close at the scheduled start time to ensure safety, maintain the integrity of the practice, and prevent heat loss.
  • New students should arrive at least 10 minutes early.

2. Stay in the Room

  • One of the core Bikram principles is building mental discipline by staying in the hot room for the full class. If it’s not possible yet, make it your goal.
  • If you need to rest, stay on your mat and take a break. Stop and breathe before you leave. If you must step out, try to make eye contact with your instructor so they know if you’re okay or if you need assistance.

3. Proper Attire Only

  • Wear fitted, sweat-friendly clothing designed for hot yoga and fitness.
  • No heavy layers or loose cotton garments that trap heat or restrict movement.
  • Please do not wear undergarments or swimsuits.

4. Mat, Towel, and Water Are Required

  • Bring a yoga mat, a full-length towel, and water to every class. Mats and towels are available for rent at the studio for $3 each or $5 for both.
  • Drink water only between postures or exercises, not during. We recommend taking small sips rather than chugging. If you are unbearably thirsty during class, you are likely already dehydrated. Hydration begins 24 hours before class. In the middle of a practice, frequent water or beverage breaks are typically a symptom of avoidance.

5. No Phones, Watches, or Electronics

  • Practice should be distraction-free.
  • Please disable all flashing lights on your phone and put it on silent mode.
  • Devices should remain outside the room or completely out of sight once class begins. If you are waiting on a time-sensitive, emergency-related call or text, let your instructor know ahead of time. Please only leave the room to take a call in true emergency situations, as this is disruptive to the flow of class.

6. Follow the Teacher’s Instructions

  • Cueing is intentional. Listen closely and follow directions to maintain safety and discipline.

7. No Perfumes or Strong Scents

  • The heat amplifies smells, so please keep the room breathable for everyone.

8. Cleanliness + Hygiene Matter

  • Arrive clean for class.
  • Wipe up sweat around your mat after class.
  • Be mindful of shared space and the conditions created by high heat.

9. Be Mindful of Talking in the Hot Room

  • Silence and minimal conversation should be observed both before and after yoga classes. Fitness students should be mindful when entering a room where a yoga class has just ended, particularly if students are still in savasana.
  • Please save loud conversations for outside the room.

10. Respect the Studio Community

  • Kindness, patience, and non-judgment create the foundation for everyone’s practice here. This is non-negotiable.
